European Union · Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Programme

Functional graded multi-material products for extra-large products. A joint development programme connecting value-chain partners to accelerate wire-arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) materials and processes. Grade2XL will deliver graded multi-material products of premium quality and performance — the high deposition speed of WAAM, combined with control of material properties down to the nanostructure, enables strong, sustainable engineering structures at scale.

Funded by Horizon 2020, Grade2XL demonstrates multi-material wire-arc additive manufacturing for large parts ranging from 1 to over 10 metres, strengthening Europe's capacity to drive manufacturing innovation worldwide.

Gorenje Orodjarna's role: building two demonstrators — a sheet-metal forming die for deep-draw and trim operations (automotive industry) and a sheet-metal forming die for a deep-draw operation (household-appliance industry).
